Benzyl Salicylate Is a white, crystalline powder and has a faint balsamic note. It gives a lasting quality to perfumes. Cananga and Ylang Ylang
Citral Can be colourless or pale yellow liquid. It has a strong fresh odour of lemon peel. It is used to give a fresh smell to the product and also helps develop rose notes. Bergamont, Cardamom, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lemongrass, Lime, Neroli, Sweet Orange, Petitgrain, Rose and Red Thyme
Coumarin Is a fine, white powder. It imparts strength to a perfume, as well as a characteristic note. Cinnamon, Lavender, Tonka, Lemongrass, Rose, Tagetes and Tarragon
Eugenol Is a yellow viscous liquid with the same odour as clove. Makes up 85% of clove oil Cinnamon, Clove and Bay
Farnesol Has a gentle odour of violets Used to create products with sweet, floral perfumes Rose, Palmarose, Neroli and Ylang Ylang
Geraniol Is a colourless liquid and has a sweet, rose-like odour. Used in many floral perfumes Geranium, Rose and Lemon
Hydroxycitronellal Is a colourless, viscous, oily liquid and has a strong, sweet odour reminiscent of linden or lime blossom Mainly used because of its floral and fresh smell Lime, Lemon, Sweet Orange, Petitgrain, Sandalwood, Tangerine and Ylang Ylang
Isoeugenol Is a pale liquid with a sweet but spicy aroma Makes up of less than 1% of clove bud Cinnamon, Clove and Bay
